About Brow Lifts

Restore a youthful, refreshed facial appearance with brow lift plastic surgery in Boca Raton. Do you look tired, angry, or worried no matter how happy you are feeling inside? The effects of time, stress, and age might be etched across your forehead in the form of horizontal creases, sagging eyebrows, and vertical “worry lines” between your eyebrows. You can visit Dr. Steven Schuster or Dr. Daniel Kovacs for a FREE consultation in Boca Raton to find out how a brow lift can improve your look. Our surgeons will listen to your concerns and give you the information you need to decide whether brow lift surgery is the right facial sculpting option for you.

The Basics – Boca Raton Brow Lift

A brow lift, also called a forehead lift, is a surgical procedure that improves the upper part of the face by giving a lifted appearance to the eyebrows and reducing lines and furrows on the forehead. Typically, patients are between the ages of 40 and 60, but this procedure is appropriate for adults of all ages seeking a long-term plastic surgery solution in Boca Raton. Also, many of our patients combine a brow lift with other facial sculpting procedures to refresh and rejuvenate their entire face. That being said, you might consider combining this surgery with:

  • Eyelid surgery to reduce heavily sagging upper eyelids
  • A facelift to smooth wrinkles of the lower face and neck
  • Cosmetic laser treatments such as laser skin resurfacing to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation

YOUR PROCEDURE, YOUR NEW LOOK

Some patients choose BOTOX® Cosmetic injections as a temporary, nonsurgical alternative to a brow lift. Talk to Dr. Schuster or Dr. Kovacs to find out which treatments will meet your facial rejuvenation goals. Several different techniques can be used to improve the appearance of your brow area. Dr. Schuster and Dr. Kovacs perform brow lift surgery using either local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia.
Coronal brow lift incisions are made in an inconspicuous area, usually across the hairline from ear to ear (similar to where the band of earphones would sit). If you are balding or have a receding hairline, our surgeons will customize the procedure to make scarring less noticeable. Next, Dr. Schuster and Dr. Kovacs lift the forehead skin, remove excess tissue, reposition or remove muscles and lift the eyebrows. They trim away any excess skin in any of these areas and close the incisions. This technique used to be quite common, but is performed less often now because other techniques give similar benefits with smaller incisions and reduced recovery time.

Let’s Get Started Today!

ENDOSCOPIC BROW LIFT

The key benefit of this technique is the use of an endoscope (a small surgical camera) to minimize the extent of required incisions. The surgeon makes four short incisions behind your hairline and inserts an endoscope through these incisions to see which areas of tissue they will need to reposition.
Because there is not as much access to the muscle and tissue beneath the brow as there is for a coronal brow lift, our surgeons may not be able to achieve as a complete rejuvenation and have limited ability to tighten surface skin.
However, the advantage of much smaller incisions and faster recovery is attractive to many patients, and an endoscopic brow lift will achieve results very similar to a coronal brow lift in most cases.

TEMPORAL BROW LIFT

This technique focuses on lifting, tightening, and smoothing skin on the forehead, around the eyes, and on the cheeks. It is ideal for people who want to improve the look of the outside edges of the brows and cheeks. The surgeon places incisions in the hairline at the temples, moving the underlying tissue horizontally and diagonally away from the center of the face. The surgeon then removes excess tissue and skin before closing the incisions.
This technique is less invasive than both coronal and endoscopic brow lifts but will not achieve quite the same results. Your satisfaction with your new look is our surgeons’ top priority when performing your surgery. They will work with you to individualize the procedures that will create the look you desire.

THE DOCTORS ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS

We look forward to meeting you and answering your questions during your consultation. Here are some questions we are often asked about brow lift plastic surgery in Boca Raton.

WILL BROW LIFT SURGERY ALONE ADDRESS ALL OF MY CONCERNS ABOUT MY FACIAL APPEARANCE?

Not always. Such a procedure can be just one part of a complete facial rejuvenation. If your upper eyelids sag in addition to your eyebrows, we might recommend eyelid surgery, as well. Many patients choose brow lift surgery in addition to a facelift in Boca Raton for a more complete facial renewal. Be sure to clearly discuss your desires and expectations at your visit.

HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY PERIOD?

In most cases, you can return to work about a week to ten days after your surgery. Do plan on resting and taking a break from your usual activities at least for the first week. You may experience loss of sensation and mild to moderate swelling for the first few days after surgery. We can provide prescription pain medication to ease any discomfort at the incision site.
You will return to our office in about ten days to two weeks to remove your stitches or staples and to check on your progress. Some patients have itching for up to six months as the incisions heal and scars form. Expect some hair loss around the incisions, which may persist for a few months. Permanent hair loss following the procedure is rare.

WILL I HAVE ANY SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS AFTER BROW LIFT SURGERY?

Yes, temporary restrictions while recovering from the surgery can include:

  • Keeping your head elevated for two to three days after your procedure to reduce swelling
  • Not washing your hair for a few days until bandages are removed
  • Limiting vigorous physical activity that increases your blood pressure including jogging, bending, heavy housework and sexual activity
  • Avoiding exposure to the sun and heat
