Hair Restoration

Dr. Schuster and Dr. Kovacs have added two treatments to stimulate hair restoration, namely ‘platelet-rich plasma’ and the ‘capillus laser cap’. Lately, these treatments have gained much popularity across the world owing to their outstanding, long-lasting, and highly reliable results. With these facilities, gone are the days when regrowing hair seemed a distant reality!

The Platelet-rich plasma or PRP is similar to a ‘vampire facial,’ as PRP uses your own blood to help facilitate hair growth. The plasma present in our blood contains platelets that are essentially rich in growth factors. They ultimately restore the activity of our hair follicles, thus boosting the growth of thick, strong hair. The procedure, though involving extreme precision, takes about half an hour. What begins with a standard blood draw from a patient’s arm, ends with injecting the platelet-rich plasma directly into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles.

It is noteworthy to mention that PRP is relatively safe, involving minimal risks such as bruising. This resolves within a week or two and you should abstain from typical hair maintenance (blow drying, coloring, etc.) for a day or two. Ideal candidates for PRP include those experiencing hair loss or patients diagnosed with androgenic alopecia. For best results, one should undergo the procedure once a month initially. The frequency then alters depending on each patient’s response. PRP is a suitable option (though not a quick-fix for hair loss) for people desiring reduced hair loss, early regrowth, and increased length of hair!
